Families & Students of SRHS/JH,
I want to thank each of you again for your flexibility and hard work during this week’s shutdown! I am so impressed with the hard work of our students, parents, and teachers during this time of uncharted waters! I’m getting notifications of students turning in work and asking questions to teachers, day and night. The dedication to education is overwhelming among our students.
As I am sure as you have already heard, due to Governor Abbot’s executive order, we will be keeping school closed through April 3rd for the safety and well-being of students, staff, and the community.
Of course, we will continue to provide remote instruction over this time. I’ll be meeting with teachers in small groups on Monday to plan and prepare packets for students who do not have access to internet service. We also will work on an action plan to beef up our online forms of education (ex. videos of teacher teaching concepts).
Students will pick up packets on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Students with internet access do not need packets unless teachers have directed them that it is necessary. Students are asked to turn in last week’s packets on Tuesday to be graded. I am still brainstorming on the most efficient and safe way to distribute packets to teachers. I will also be working with Dr. McClendon and Mrs. Laisy to develop some grading guidelines.
Please feel free to email me or call with any questions! I understand that this is a turbulent time for many of us. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Stay safe and healthy!
