Dear Rebel Families and Community,
Oh how the semester has flown by! It is hard to believe that we are already winding down the first semester of the 2019-2020 school year!
We have made a few changes in how we support students this semester, with the biggest change being Lunch Bunch. Students who have zeros, missing work, or failing grades are placed in Lunch Bunch during Rebel Time. Teachers can schedule Lunch Bunch tutorials based on student need, pulling them for intervention during this time. Students who are passing with no missing work are rewarded during Rebel Time with free time to attend group meetings, tutorials, or just spend time with their friends playing card games, board games, or outdoor games. Teachers have reported that this intervention has proven successful in motivating students to complete their assignments in a timely manner.
Teachers are also offering tutorials either before or after school. Schedules should be posted on teachers’ websites, as well as outside of their door. If you feel your student is in need of extra intervention or you have concerns to address, please feel free to contact his/her teachers for a parent/teacher conference.
I am excited to begin my second semester serving the Sam Rayburn community! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a magical 2020!
